About Gas Choice and deregulation

1. Your natural gas service consists of purchasing the gas and distributing the gas.
2. Your gas utility (Washington Gas or Baltimore Gas and Electric) will continue to distribute gas to your location, send you your bill, check for gas leaks and respond to emergencies.

Natural gas deregulation allows customers the choice to purchase natural gas from suppliers other than their traditional utility company. Maryland Energy is a licensed (License No. IR-2106) natural gas supplier that you may select for your natural gas needs in Maryland. Would you like price stability? Maryland Energy is able to offer various fixed plans to meet your needs.  Should you choose Maryland Energy as your natural gas supplier, your local utility company in all cases will still maintain distribution channels that deliver gas to your home.

Who is Maryland Energy?

Why should I select Maryland Energy as my natural gas supplier?

Simply put, we offer customers innovative products at great prices. Why would you stay with a supplier with a higher price? Make the switch to a lower price and save!

Would you like to lock in your natural gas price for the next 6 or 12 months to avoid price spikes and fluctuations? You DO NOT have this option with your regulated utility company. You do with Maryland Energy!

What about my gas bill, what will change?

You will continue to receive one bill from your local gas utility company. The only change you will see on your bill is Maryland Energy supplying the gas commodity charges; gas delivery charges will still originate from your local gas utility company. You will continue to make one payment to your utility company.

How can I enroll?

Enrolling is a simple process. Have a copy of your latest bill and call our Customer Care Center at 1-866-526-8776,  Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Eastern time to enroll or if you have questions.

Can I continue to participate on my utility’s budget billing program if I select Maryland Energy?

Washington Gas customers: - Yes, customers may continue to utilize the Washington Gas budget billing option.

Baltimore Gas and Electric customers: - You may remain on the budget billing program; however, only the BGE distribution charges will be incorporated into the budget billing calculation. Gas commodity charges from the third party supplier will be billed based on the actual amount of gas delivered.
